Welcome the OpenSource SpeechSynth v1.2!
This project is based on the idea that everybody can contribute to a fully Web based speech synthesizer for languages without existing commercial speech synthesizers. The synthesis is on word level. Everybody can contribute sound files for the vocabulary of this synthesizer. Just look down what words are still missing, record a WAV soundfile for it, and upload it to this web page! If there are enough soundfiles for words, you can submit any text, and this synthesizer will send you back the sound file. (Words that are not (yet) in the vocabulary are just ignored.)

Update November 20, 2005: I converted a bunch of newly uploaded files to the right format: WAV files 16bit, stereo, 44kHz (and maximized the volume). As mentioned earlier, new audio files must be exactly this format, other file formats will just not work. Thanks!
Update March 12, 2004: Today I had to convert a dozen files that were in the wrong audio format. PLEASE upload only WAV files 16bit, stereo, 44kHz!! Other file formats will just not work. Thanks!

If you want to add a soundfile for a word in the above vocabulary list, record it, e.g., with Microsoft SoundRecorder. Store it on your hard drive as a WAV file 16-bit, stereo, 44kHz (only this works right now). Then choose in the drop down menu the word, browse on your hard drive to choose the sound file, and upload it!

I can only say the words in my vocabulary, all other words in your sentence will be ignored.
Note: Tell your browser to reload cached files every time, otherwise you will not hear the new file if you synthesize more than once. In Netscape: Menu Preferences--Advanced--Cache--Document in cache: reload every time
